Ready to join Bureaux? Raring to contribute? Here are some quick details for new members and their advisors.
Our Positioning
Bureaux at FH aims to tell the story of new global markets: more deeply, collaboratively, and elegantly.
We've developed Bureaux as a community with global width and alacrity, one which is exists somewhere amongst the options as:
• More efficient and elegant for value than Forbes Leadership Councils (for research and views) or business wires (for news).
• Similar in aperture to World Economic Forum and in brevity to Axios or Semafor.
• And respected for the discipline and eccentricity that were hallmarks of global financial journalism before social media.

Content Guidelines
Herald publishes a wide range of news, research, and opinion powered by our Bureaux. How does yours fit?
♖ News
FH's daily intelligence tends to fall into a pair of categories – what we shorthand as 'plays and players'. The plays focus on deals, allocations, and product developments and partnerships. Players include leader and team moves, corporate strategy, and collective industry work.
What we look for in each of these: proper nouns, real impact, and measurability (often in the form of cheque size).
♖ Research
Takes on a wide array of quantitative analysis, from simple data bytes and charting, to traditional macro notes and calls, to tentpole surveys and studies. We view promoting knowledge and data as particularly important to our mission.
♖ Opinion
Views and thought leadership are likewise quite welcomed when they are timely, relevant to our audiences, and takes a clear, particular view. Human authorship also required.
We are passionate about our role as a champion for new markets and asset classes. That spirit is thus reflected in our second Bureaux requirement: be global, be frontier.
♖ Global
By this we mean demonstrating a direct perspective reaching beyond the United States and traditional developed markets. Its shape can take a variety of forms. The firm or franchise domicile itself, the focus of the strategy or exposure, an allocator or partner, a global target segment, are among the possibilities. It needn't be all of your business – but it should be real, not hypothetical.
On this question, we take a holistic approach erring on the side of flexibility, though it is a primary consideration for our editors. We advise members take a thoughtful approach before submitting.
♖ Frontier
The same is true of frontier – or new asset class and business modalities. We're focused on what's creative, novel or under-explored. That might include innovation in structuring or strategy; it might track to evolving investor demand, generational, practise or macro conditions. Of course, as above, it might mean widening into new geographies. Or it could represent an enthuasiastically contrarian view on what's to come.
Our editorial team is always available to help guide you on either of these fronts.
Submission Process
We keep it simple.
• Share your news by email, making note of the Bureaux member. Pay the editorial fee if one applies (to news).
• Our team will review and reach out with any questions – typically to address gaps or add colour we believe would enhance the story or narrative.
• Publication and amplification, typically within 24 hours. If the content is a Herald exclusive, or embargoed and shared with us on at least 48 hours notice, it will go live far faster or at a specific agreed time.
More FAQs for Bureaux Contributors
Does my firm or practise need to be a certain size or stature to join?
No. Bureaux membership is granted on an individual level, and we strive to be home to a diversity of viewpoints; therefore we accept members from across the spectrum: startups, boutiques and middle market up to the world's largest firms and public entities. Our evaluation lies in the two criteria described above: your ability to contribute, and relevance to our mission.
Do you offer any discounts on membership?
Yes, for strictly public institutions and university students, annual membership is USD $249. Evaluation criteria and publishing process are the same.
How much of your focus (global/different) is sufficient?
We make this judgment for every piece of contributed content. At a membership level, we would suggest that one or the other (or both) attributes be a significant if not majority share of members' work -- but it need not be for your entire firm. What we're after is expertise.
Why is news paid? Are there exceptions?
The editorial fee for news supports our newsroom operation, and is also designed for thoughtfulness in contribution volume. We do make one exception, the Bureaux First Exclusive. Email us for more.
Research and opinion are free to contribute?
Yes, as per the requirements above. Again, we encourage thoughtfulness in volume and reserve the right to regulate contribution.
Is there a contribution limit?
At Herald our editorial aim is to paint a collective markets picture, not individual saturation. Our team will approve exceptions when appropriate, but as standard we constrain member contributions to one per week. Beyond this we are happy to build bespoke 1:1 engagements at higher volume through our partnership studio.
Can Bureaux contributions be upgraded?
Absolutely; with sufficient lead time our studio is happy to create additional assets, or arrange an extended channel opportunity, for any Bureaux contribution. In fact, Bureaux members receive a discount for those services.
Does Herald publish news beyond Bureaux?
Yes. Our publisher and team make independent decisions on news' relevance for our audience, with or without it being contributed. In the coming months, FH will also begin producing long-form, profile and broadcast assets in a similar spirit.
We would not describe our posture as investigative, but as a respected financial news outlet, we believe in reporting what's important -- and that may indeed include analytic reporting on Bureaux members' firms. We take a disciplined and balanced approach.
Tell us about your editorial process.
In our engagement with Bureaux contributors we aim to ensure, as necessary, that all claims are accurate, supported and meet traditional journalistic standards. Our goal is to tell the most fulsome story possible, creating value while honouring the truth; therefore we retain the right to challenge or remove information that doesn't meet the above, and in most cases our edit will involve revision for space and house style. In this sense we are true to our name: more newspaper than wire.
What is your take on AI?
Content created by artificial intelligence is easy to identify, often contains inaccuracies. We strongly encourage our members to avoid using it for Herald contributions, at bare minimum with close human edit, and restrict its use entirely for views and opinion. Likewise we view Bureaux as a constructive relationship, one that involves representing you to the world. Therefore we appreciate that relationship being corresponded by humans, as well.
